Textiles - Edel Zollinger
I started doing creative embroidery in the late 1960's at Withington College, Manchester, and later studied weaving with Elda Abramson. I use both weaving ( off loom) and embroidery tecniques in my work, which varies from big wallhangings to tiny embroideries. Recent pieces are mainly jewellery, using a variety of materials, such as feathers, leather and beads.
I have exhibited widely over several decades, both in Norway and the UK, and taught creative embroidery in Norway from 1983 - 89. My last solo show was at Plas Gwyn-y-Weddw in Llanbedrog, North Wales.
I am a founder member of the North West Embroiderers, and also a member of the New Embroidery Group (NEG).
